ICE Causes Crash on I-55 in Chicago & U.S. Targets 200k in Mass Visa Revocation

ICE caused a crash in Chicago on the I-55 expressway off-ramp in McKinley Park on Monday, the 24th. This reporting is from the Chicago Sun Times: Alderwoman Julia Ramirez of the 12th ward said ICE agents pinned a pickup truck on the highway before chasing a man and detaining him.

And the AP reported today that the “US [is] set for largest mass visa revocation in history, targeting up to 200,000 foreigners.” Proving once again that the trump regime’s brutal mass-deportation scheme has nothing to do with catching criminals.

The Trump administration is preparing to revoke the business and tourism visas of up to 200,000 foreigners who have applied for or are currently seeking asylum status in the United States.

[T]he State Department is expected to announce in the coming weeks the revocation of so-called B1 and B2 visas issued between 2016 and 2026 whose holders have sought asylum or are now seeking asylum.

On June 26th the Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to end legal protections for migrants fleeing violence and natural disaster in Haiti and Syria. As a consequence TPS was ended for over 6,000 Syrians on July 17th and 340,000 Haitians on July 27th. All of these humans were in the country legally. Now, because of these decisions by the Trump regime which didn’t go through congress, didn’t go through the Senate, and whose legal challenges were overturned by the corrupt Supreme court the nearly 350,000 people are considered “illegal” and are now targets for ICE deportation.

In total the Trump regime has now terminated TPS status for Afghanistan, Burma, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Haiti, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen - making 1.3 million former legal residents illegal. That’s 1.3 million more people ICE will brutalize, kidnap, place into deadly concentration camps, and perhaps deport to a country that they’ve never been to.

Like Roberto Mosquera, a Cuban citizen who has been in the U.S. since he was 12 years old that was deported to Eswatini. The authorities of Eswatini have locked him and five other men who were deported alongside Mosquera in a maximum security prison. They might spend the rest of their life in that prison, and die there, without ever having been charged with a crime by Eswatini.

Congress and the Senate could put a stop to all of this, if they weren’t cowards. So check your voter registration, sign your friends up to vote, inform yourself on you state and local candidates. All of that will take a day.

Spend the rest of your time in community organizing. Distributing mutual aid. Building real relationships. Because if the ruling class wants to ignore the will of the people at the ballot box then we, the people, will move up the escalation ladder until our demands are met.
