I have a guide on how to prepare for martial law/civil unrest in my profile. I think everyone should stock up minimum 2 weeks, ideally one month of food and have the ability to purify water. Sleeping bags, batteries, solar chargers for when the power goes out. Cash, extra medications, print outs of important documents. Passports and a bug-out bag if you need to leave in a hurry.
Hopefully this is all unnecessary. But even if martial law/civil unrest doesn’t come it’s just good to be prepared. People died of hypothermia and lack of medications fully two weeks after Hurricane Helene hit. Law and order broke down after hurricane Katrina. It can happen here folks, the US is not immune from chaos.
