TSA is “referring” people for ICE to abduct inside airports and a Chinese national legally in the U.S. with a pending asylum case was taken on August 4th as a “collateral” arrest after TSA sent ICE to abduct someone else. The woman was standing near the person ICE targeted and she, along with other Chinese national work colleagues were taken by ICE. She has no criminal history, had a valid work permit until 2029, and was eventually released after spending 1.5 months in detention after a magistrate judge ruled that her 5th amendment had been violated.
The woman in this viral video from the weekend, Jing Zhao, is being held in Adelanto and from Chinese language media reported to be a special ed teacher in Irvine. Please share this with all the trump supporting Chinese uncles that you know. Their legal status will not protect them from these racists.
This information comes from Chinese language sites, the woman is named Jing Zhao and was abducted by plainclothes ICE officers at LAX this weekend. A Chinese mother posted on WeChat that she recognized Zhao and said that she’s a special ed teacher in Irvine, California. Her e-mail shows that she holds an MBA. DHS’s detainee locator shows she’s being held in Adelanto and that’s all we know about her situation right now.
So back to the first story, on August 4th LiPing Lin was abducted along with three of her Chinese colleagues at LAX while they were flying for a work team-building trip to Hawaii.
ICE was not looking for Lin; she “came to the attention of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Los Angeles pursuant to a collateral arrest from a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) lead referral regarding [another individual],” and “was incidentally encountered during a targeted enforcement operation to locate and apprehend [the other individual].”
