ICE deportees are being tortured to death in El Salvador’s infamous mega-prisons. This is not a story about those sent to CECOT last April. After the media firestorm passed ICE has quietly deported 9,829 humans to El Salvador, many of whom have ended up in their prisons despite having no criminal histories in either the US or El Salvador.
Bukele declared a “state of exception” in 2022 which suspended due process and allowed mass round-ups inside the country. It allowed those accused of being gang members to be locked up without charge. This state of emergency was supposed to last 30 days, yet has been extended for over four years and 2% of El Salvador’s adult population is now behind bars.
This model is exactly what the Trump regime wants in the U.S. They would love to suspend due process and habeas corpus. Steven Miller has talked about it constantly. They’ve successfully stripped immigrants of their rights to due process and they’ll be attacking the civil rights of “anti-capitalist, anti-Christian, anti-fascist” citizens next, per NSPM-7.
Trump was caught on a hot mic last year telling Bukele to build more CECOTs because he wants to “send the home-growns” next. That’s you folks. Trump wants you to be tortured to death in CECOT.
