ICE Escalating with Shots Fired and Tasers

On Saturday morning masked men who refused to identify themselves broke the window of a truck and then fired three rounds as the occupants drove away, rightfully fearing for their lives.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, a person refused to exit his vehicle during an attempted traffic stop while a targeted immigration enforcement operation was taking place. The agency said the man "drove his car at the officers," striking two.

At that point, the officers fired multiple shots at the vehicle, which had three people inside at the time. No one was struck. The driver escaped the scene.

While speaking to CBS News Los Angeles, members of the family inside the vehicle told a different story of the incident, saying that masked agents refused to explain the situation and hit the driver in the head after shattering a window.

After that, the bullets started flying.

"I was thinking the bullets were gonna run through the back window and hit any of us," said a man who wanted to be identified only as Martin.

After the incident, according to a spokesperson for the Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice, the trio returned to their home.

Martin's father-in-law called the San Bernardino Police Department when he arrived home to report that masked men tried to pull him over, broke his car window, and shot at him.

When officers with the SBPD arrived at the home, they found the damaged vehicle and that federal immigration officers had already arrived.

"At that time, it was unclear what the suspect was wanted for. Under the California Values Act, California law enforcement agencies are prohibited from assisting federal officials with immigration enforcement, so our officers left the scene as the investigation was being conducted by federal authorities," police said.

At around 1:15 p.m., SBPD officers were called back to the home upon receiving a request for assistance from agents who said a large crowd had formed outside of the home as they "attempted to arrest the subject for assaulting a federal officer."

Police provided crowd control at the home, stating that local law enforcement can help federal officials if officer or public safety is at risk.

"In this case, federal agents requested assistance during a lawful arrest for assaulting a federal officer when a crowd created a potential officer safety concern," police said. "This was not an immigration-related arrest, which would be prohibited under California law."

Agents left the home a little before 4 p.m., said IC4IJ's statement.

According to Martin, the man who was wanted by federal agents is a home and business owner who has been in the U.S. for more than two decades.

"He's been here for 23 years. He's always just been a hardworking man. There's no reason he shouldn't have gotten his green card a long time ago," Martin said of his father-in-law. "He's tried many, many, many times. [The government has] always denied it."

The man was briefly detained but not arrested because ultimately, federal agents didn't have a warrant, Martin said. The DHS says he was set free, "despite the subject refusing to comply and wounding two officers," because of "California's pro-sanctuary policies in action that shield criminals instead of protecting communities."

This news report highlights why filming these interactions with ICE is so crucial. Look at how easily DHS lies. They claim that two agents were struck by the truck, and that the driver drove at agents. The videos shot on the scene tell a completely different story. There are clearly no agents in the path of the vehicle, and the shots were fired after the truck was well clear of any of the agents.

The agents also immediately started smashing their windows. No attempt to de-escalate, explain who they are, explain why they’ve stopped the truck. One agent hasn’t even had time to put on both of his gloves before they broke the truck windows.

Citizens sharing the truth is vital. This news report white-washes the incident. It claims the occupants refused to get out of the car. They were given about 20 seconds to get out of the car, no one had identified themselves as Federal agents, would you exit your car immediately if masked men with guns stopped you? I think I’d need more than 20 seconds too to figure out what was going on.

And if masked men with guns then proceeded to smash out your window, what would you do? Let them drag you out?

Biased news reporting like this is one reason so many Americans are unaware of what’s truly happening. The report makes ICE’s actions sound reasonable. When you see it unfold on video it’s evident to the viewer how unreasonable the whole situation is.

ICE Tased Two People this Weekend

This is the first I’ve seen ICE tase anyone. They’ve been tackling immigrants, punching them, knee on the neck, but this is the first I’ve seen of ICE specifically using tasers, and in two separate occasions. It would appear to me that they’ve been given more latitude to use their weapons. Maybe a memo giving them more explicit authorization to use weapons. Or it could just be the natural progression of what happens when power-hungry cops realize that they won’t be held accountable for their actions.

Regardless, I expect we’ll see more use of force by ICE in the coming weeks.

Normal Police Brutality vs. Targeted Attacks, a Dangerous Distinction

Police brutality in the US is not new. The dangerous precedent we’re seeing now however is that police forces are clearly being used to target individuals that get on the wrong side of the regime. In Portland, Oregon a veteran was brutally tackled on Aug 13th in a targeted attack. Undeterred, he went back to protesting, and he was again targeted and attacked on the 16th.

They targeted a Colombian TikToker who was posting about ICE raids. The right-wing propaganda machine claims that she was “doxxing Federal agents.” They didn’t have a warrant to arrest her, so they detained her outside of her home, abusing their immigration powers. Agents knelt on her neck and caused her to lose consciousness.

They targeted a US citizen who was monitoring their activities. ICE singled her out because she’d been monitoring and reporting their activities and they didn’t like that.

DHS sent a full SWAT team with ballistic shields and all to re-arrest the man who threw a subway sandwich at an officer in D.C. He’d been arrested and released the night of the sandwich throwing, but the regime didn’t like his actions so they hit him with felony charges and re-arrested him at his home.

Police brutality existed before trump. That is undeniable. The dangerous precedent now is that people are being selectively targeted for brutality because they have run afoul of the regime.

In the old world police might brutalize you if you’d run afoul of the law, they’d use the excuse that you’d broken a law or were in the wrong place to brutalize you. In this brave new world the police will target specific individuals and create a pretense in order to brutalize people who have run afoul of them and their regime. I hope I have been able to adequately explain the critical difference.

And in the old world police still had to fear DOJ investigations, oversight, and accountability. In this brave new world they can run around with masks and face zero accountability. I’m afraid we’re only seeing the beginning of the brutality.
