David Streever sent an e-mail to Todd Lyons on January 26th telling Lyons that he would go down in history as “America’s Reinhard Heydrich”(aka The Butcher of Prague). Because of that e-mail(which contained no threats) ICE agents visited Streever’s home on June 23rd but Streever was away in Finland on vacation. He returned to the U.S. on the 25th, where agents tracked him down at his hotel in NYC that same night.
That Tuesday those same ICE agents visited Paigelynne Gonyea while she was working election polls in Syracuse, NY. They told Gonyea that they were investigating threats against ICE personnel and said that they’d identified an Instagram post which broke federal law.
“This notice officially informs you that it is unlawful to threaten to assault, kidnap, and/or murder a federal official or that federal official’s immediate family member with the intent to impede, intimidate, and/or interfere with the federal official’s duties or retaliate against a federal official due to the performance of their duties,” the document said.
The document said she could be subject to both federal and state prosecution.
“They tried to scare me into signing it while I was working,” she said.
Police State Enforcers
These are clearly intimidation tactics intended to silence dissent. If Streever or Gonyea had broken the law they would have been charged with a crime.
I hope there’s no longer any doubt as to what the true purpose of ICE is or why they spent $144 million on small arms and ammunition in 2025. ICE is being built up to be the enforcers for the fascist police state.
The trump regime is not building a paramilitary Army to go after undocumented migrants. They are building this paramilitary to suppress dissent.
We know ICE is keeping lists of protestors and activists. On the 10th NPR reported on a previously unpublished letter from Todd Lyons to congress admitting that DHS collects and maintains information related to interactions even when no arrests or detentions have been made. “Such information is maintained in DHSand/or ICE information systems,” Lyons wrote in his letter to congress.
It’s been long theorized that ICE hires white supremacist militias and January 6th insurrectionists, well now we have more proof. It’s only a matter of time until the masks fully come off and ICE is used to terrorize the enemies of this regime in the same way that they terrorize immigrants now. And who are those enemies? The NSPM-7 lists it clearly - anyone who is anti-fascist, anti-capitalist, anti-Christian, socialist, or supports rights for transgender humans.
The positive news is that Streever and Gonyea aren't backing down. Gonyea has refused to delete her Instagram post and Streever has contacted free speech attorneys. We need to follow their example and continue to resist because their intimidation only works if we allow ourselves to be intimidated.
